Bulgaria's Tourism Shifts Toward Experience-Focused Stays as Demand Grows
Tourism in Bulgaria is increasingly shifting from traditional hotel stays to more experience-focused offerings
The advertisement agency TBWA in Eindhoven in the Netherlands has created a commercial video clip for the maker of electronic devices Fluke, deemed to be insulting for Bulgaria.
The clip features a Bulgarian weightlifter taking part in a diving competition.
The sarcastic video starts with a close-up of a weightlifter named Demitar Gladonov from Bulgaria. He is seen tightening his belt as he would be preparing to lift weights, but the next shot shows him on the diving board, getting ready for a jump.
After the dive, the commentator can be heard saying this has been an absolutely brilliant attempt and there will be "one hell of a party in Bulgaria tonight."
The clip ends with this sign: "Need power and flexibility? Only Fluke can excel in combining both..."
The ad has already stirred outrage in Bulgaria with many angry comments on Facebook and under the video clip on You Tube.
The Dutch agency has created similar ads mocking a rugby player from Wales performing a rhythmic gymnastics composition and a golfer from New Zealand taking part in a sprint race.
The video clip can be seen HERE.
