US President Barack Obama has celebrated his 51st birthday Saturday with a round of golf near Washington DC.

Born in Hawaii on August 4 1961, Obama played gold at Andrews Air Force Base, MD, taking a little break ahead of the November 2012 presidential election. He then traveled to Camp David, MD, some 100 km from the capital.

The greetings from foreign leaders have started pouring since Thursday. Obama received an e-card from First Lady Michelle, from supporters and from opponents from the Republic Party.

At a meeting with voters last week in Orlando, FL, he joked that the best birthday gift would be to win in Florida during the presidential race.

Upon returning from Camp David, Obama will travel to Colorado and Connecticut to take part in several election campaign events.

The President will have a true birthday party on August 12 in his home in south Chicago. The belated celebration will be held alongside a fundraising campaign.
