Spanish police has arrested three suspected Al Qaeda members in possession of massive amounts of explosives.

According to authorities in Spain, the three were planning a bomb attack in the country or elsewhere in Europe.

"This is one of the largest Al Qaeda-related investigations on a national level," said Spanish Minister of Interior Jorge Fernandez Diaz.

The men are said to have hidden a hoard of explosives at an apartment in southern Spanish La Linea de la Concepcion.

One of the detained was arrested in that town, while the other two were intercepted in the central city of Ciudad Real.

July 18, a terror attack of as yet unidentified provenance claimed the lives of 7, including a Bulgarian driver, 5 Israeli tourists, and the presumed suicide bomber, in the Bulgarian resort city of Burgas.
