Border police have caught an Iranian hidden in a car at the Bulgarian Kapitan Andreevo Border Point with Turkey.

At 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday, Bulgarian border police stopped for inspection a VW with an Italian registration plate.

The car was driven by a 27-year-old Iranian with a temporary residence permit issued by Italy, accompanied by a 66-year old Italian national, the owner of the vehicle.

In the course of the inspection, border police officers found a 21-year-old Iranian citizen hidden between the front and rear seats of the car, wrapped in a blanket.

The three men were arrested and taken to the center for temporary accommodation of detained persons in Svilengrad.

The car was seized and the investigation into the case continues.
