Turkish giants Galatasaray have denied reports that they are close to signing Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Rumors intensified recently that Manchester United's unsettled forward was about to sign a three-year contract with the team.
However, Galatasaray have now said they are not interested in snapping up the Bulgarian.
"There have been some reports in the media that Dimitar Berbatov will be transferred to our club," read a statement on the Turkish outfit's official website.
"The club would like to declare that there is no transfer and no attempt has been made in that regard."
Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov was quoted by Turkish sports news site Fanatik on Saturday as saying that Berbatov is certain to play for Galatasaray.
United are allegedly willing to offload Berbatov for around GBP 5 M. Russia's Zenit St Petersburg is among the clubs most recently linked with the prolific forward.
