Bulgaria: Iran Embassy in Sofia Rejects 'Zionist' Accusations for Terror Blast

The Iranian embassy in Bulgarian capital Sofia has rejected allegaltions by Israel that Iran stands behind the Wednesday deadly bomb attack against Israeli tourists in Bulgarian Black Sea city of Burgas.

"The groundless statements of different statesmen from the Zionist regime accusing Iran for participating in the incident with the blown up bus with Israeli tourists is a well-known method of the Zionist regime pursuing its own political goals," states the embassy Thursday.

Israel President Shimon Peres, PM Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and Foreign Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman have all attributed the attack to Hezbollah or a similar organization, stressing that Iran is at the root.

The Iranian embassy further stresses that Iran is a "victim of the Zionist regime's terrorism, including the murder of nuclear scientists."

The statement further stresses the long-lasting friendship between the Islamic Republic and Bulgaria, which is based on mutual respect for their interests.

Earlier Thursday, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also rejected responsibility for the terror attack, saying Iran has in principle always condemned terror attacks.
