A wildfire has erupted near the historic Bulgarian village of Arbanasi.

The fire has affected approximately 25 acres of deciduous forests. Six firefighting teams have been dispatched.

Arbanasi Mayor Tosho Krastev has told reporters that the fire may spread to the Ksilifor area near the city of Veliko Tarnovo.

The local population is not in danger, the bTV private channel says.

The Arbanasi village is known for the rich history and large number of monuments, such as 17th and 18th century churches and examples of Bulgarian National Revival architecture.
