ACTA Officially Killed in Bulgaria

Bulgaria's government has officially refused to pursue a procedure before the European Court of Justice in favor of the international ACTA agreement, it has been announced.
Thus, the procedure for the implementation controversial trade agreement has been conclusively stopped in the Balkan country.
Bulgaria was among the countries that signed ACTA in January.
After mass protests took place in 16 Bulgarian cities in mid-February, the government announced that it was halting its ratification.
The European Parliament rejected the global Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement in a crucial vote on July 4.
ACTA, abbreviation for Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, mandated that signatory countries implement legislation to criminalize certain types of downloading content such as music and movies, from sites not sanctioned by rights owners, such as torrent trackers.
