The websites of UK media group BBC covering the 2012 London Olympics use Bulgarian software, according to a media statement of the manufacturer.
BBC's two websites, – BBC Sports and Olympics 2012 are based on semantic software technologies OWLIM and Concept Extraction Service (CES) developed by Bulgarian company Ontotext.
According to the manufacturer, semantic search systems are the future of Internet search engines.
Their advantage consists in the fact that they are aimed at grasping the searcher's intent and the meaning of the query rather than parsing through keywords.
This allows a better understanding of readers' queries and supplies more fitting responses and more contextual information about the sports event searched.
Other products developed by the Bulgarian software company include the semantic annotation platform KIM and the web intelligence and web search platform WMF.
OWLIM is a semantic depository.
The 2012 London Olympic Games start on July 27 and will continue until August 12.
