Brazil President Dilma Rousseff and Bulgaria counterpart Rosen Plevneliev coordinated a plan for boosting bilateral economic relations, during the Rio+20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.
Plevneliev is leading a large Bulgarian delegation to the meeting, organized by the UN and devoted to global sustainable development.
The Bulgarian-Brazilian plan will begin with a visit to Bulgaria of a delegation from Brazil which will pinpoint the sectors and projects most attractive for Brazilian investors.
This will be followed by a similar Bulgarian delegation to Brazil.
Among the potential projects that Brazil's business might be interested to invest in is the so-called Sofia Tech Park, devoted to innovative technologies.
In addition, Bulgarian President Plevneliev invited Brazil to become a strategic partner of his country in the field of agriculture and food production.
Other areas of interest mentioned by Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff include education and research, as well as the chemical industry.
In particular, Rousseff expressed her desire to see more Brazilian students go to college in Bulgaria, especially in engineering disciplines.
Brazil's President further recalled her emotional ties to Bulgaria and her exciting memories of her visit to the country in October 2011.
Rousseff's father Pedro Rousseff (Petar Rusev) was a Bulgarian emigrant to Brazil and Dilma's election as Brazil's President in October 2010 was something of an event in Bulgarian society.
