Non-attached far-right Bulgarian MEP Dimitar Stoyanov has officially launched his new political project, a formation entitled the National Democratic Party.

Stoyanov has been unanimously elected as the party's chairman, local media inform.

"I want to change the world, starting from my own country," the MEP has declared. He has pointed out that patriotic formations with young leaders are growing strong all across Europe.

Stoyanov is the stepson of Volen Siderov, the eccentric leader of far-right nationalist Ataka (Attack) party.

The 29-year-old MEP and his mother, Kapka Siderova, split off from Siderov following a scandal, in which he was said to be cheating on Siderova with an Ataka MP, Denitsa Gadzeva (who was reportedly Stoyanov's high school girlfriend).

Stoyanov's National Democratic Party failed to kick off in April, as several former Ataka MPs, currently independents, decided to quit the project, explaining it was "family-based."

Siderova is still involved in her son's political formation.
