The Deputy Chief of Bulgaria's National Security Services, NSO, Brigadier General Stoyan Tomchev, has been released from his post and from all military duties.

The cabinet approved Wednesday the proposal of President, Rosen Plevneliev, to release Tomchev. According to the official statement of the government press office, the General himself have submitted a request to leave the post, citing personal reasons.

Tomchev, who has several merit awards, has been NSO Deputy Chief since 2004.

The NSO now-former Chief, General Lieutenant, Dimitar Dimitrov, left in mid-May, also on personal reasons grounds.

The acting NSO Chief is Brigadier General Todor Kodzheykov, who was previously Deputy Chief.

For years, Kodzheykov took care of the security of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov. He was in charge of it since 2006 when Borisov became Mayor of Sofia.

Kodzheykov also guarded Presidents Zelyu Zhelev and Petar Stoyanov.
