The levels of the rivers Struma, Tundzha and Iskar in Bulgaria are being closely monitored after several days of heavy spring rains.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Interior informed that excessive precipitation combined with melting snow mandates the measure.

Several villages have already experienced floods during last week.

Tuesday Bulgarian firefighers and civil protection teams have reacted to 69 emergency signals across the country.

Units of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior are also taking care of the situation in Pernik, which Tueday was shaken by a 3.8 degree aftershock of last week's 5.8 degree earthquake.

All water reservoirs that have reached excessive levels are being drained in a controlled manner, but river levels are expected to rise, informed the police.
