Bulgaria: Bulgarian Interior Min Woos Duch MPs over Schengen

Bulgarian Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov is on a trip to the Dutch Parliament in the Hague to present Bulgaria's progress in justice and combatting crime.

The Netherlands is the EU member most vehemently opposed to Bulgaria and Romania's membership in Schengen over what it claims are worries relating to managing organized crime and corruption in the two countries.

Thursday Dutch MPs from the Immigration Committee of the Lower Chamber of Parliament heard in person from Minister Tsvetanov about the reforms the Bulgarian government implements in the field, reported the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior.

Tsvetanov in particular presented currently developed and recently adopted legislative amendments, including the law on confiscation of property with unexplained origin.
