Bulgarian Members of the Parliament reelected Thursday Evtim Kostadinov for a second term as Chairman of the Files Commission.
The MPs voted for Kostadinov by name. They also elected members of the Commission for the next five years, who were nominated by the parliamentary groups of political parties with representation in the Parliament.
In addition to Kostadinov, three other nominations of the ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, made the cut – Ivanka Vitanova, Ekaterina Boncheva, and Georgi Pangarov.
Another two members, Ayrush Ibrahim Hadzhi and Boris Mihaylov, were nominated by the ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS, while Maryana Darakchieva was nominated by the right-wing Blue Coalition.
The far-right, nationalist Ataka did not have a nomination. The term of the Commission expired on April 5.
The Files Commission is a panel in charge of investigating the Communist era secret files.
