IT, Logistics, Agriculture Bulgaria's Most Attractive Investment Sectors - Manager

IT, logistics and agriculture are Bulgaria's competitive sectors that are most attractive for investments, according to Kiril Petkov, General Manager of Bulgarian Development Company.
"Bulgaria boasts with its 10% (flat) tax and with being a member of the EU, but there is still no industry that benefits from these facts," Petkov noted during the International Investment Conference "Bulgaria: Business Up" in Sofia on Friday.
He stated that investments should be directed towards companies that are already successful on international markets.
Petkov's company entered the Bulgarian market in 2007 with investments in properties.
"The total investments in properties were EUR 9 B in 2007, while they are not more than EUR 700 M," the manager said.
"You cannot have an independent competitive company in 2012 – the competitors compete on the local market and the winner competes on the international market. We should focus on companies that are competitive, have export potential and can achieve value-added growth, in order to have winners on the global market," Petkov pointed out.
The First International Investment Conference "Bulgaria: Business Up" started in the Bulgarian capital Sofia on Friday.
"Bulgaria: Business UP" is a new initiative designed to analyze and promote Bulgaria's advantages as a foreign investment destination.
The goal of the "Bulgaria: Business UP" investment conference is to present to the international business community the highly favorable investment climate in Bulgaria as well as the variety of opportunities for successful and sustainable business that the country has to offer.
"Bulgaria: Business UP" is organized by Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency), the largest Bularian English-language media, and Novinite.bg, a Bulgarian-language news website, together with the InvestBulgaria Agency.
