Bulgarian boxer Kubrat Pulev AKA "The Cobra" won Saturday the EBU European heavyweight title.

Pulev battered and stopped Alexander "Sascha" Dimitrenko of Germany (a Ukrainian native) in a face-off in the professional boxing championship in Erfurt, Germany.

The match began with a slow pace with the two cautiously studying each other, but by round four Pulev obviously took the control and the lead in the game.

The end for Dimitrenko came at round 11 when he was felled by a jab. The exhausted German hit the floor, having no intention of trying to beat the count, and after the knockout, Kubrat Pulev became the European heavyweight champion.

With this victory, Pulev enhanced his standing as one of Europe's and the world's leading heavyweights. His record jump up to 16 wins in 16 matches (8 with knockouts) while Dimitrenko stepped back to 32 wins and 2 losses (with 21 knockouts).
