Bulgaria's new national stadium will be able to seat between 20 000 and 25 000 spectators, the country's Sports Minister Simeon Neykov has stated.

Neykov has hinted that the stadium's capacity may be increased to 35 000 if it is selected to host a Europa League final in the future.

The Bulgarian Sports Ministry wants to find a company that would manage the stadium before its construction begins.

The stadium is expected to be built near the Arena Armeets sports hall that was opened in 2011.

Neykov has also revealed that the state will continue investing in the modernization of existing stadiums.

In November 2011, it was reported that the new national stadium would be called "Arena of the Rose" and would be constructed near the Sofia International Airport.

The plan for the construction of a new stadium in Sofia was revealed at the end of 2010 by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
