Bulgaria's "National Democratic Party", which has been initiated by MEP Dimitar Stoyanov and his mother Kapka Siderova, has ended up still born.

The party came up after Stoyanov and his mother split off from the leader of the major Bulgarian national party Ataka,Volen Siderov, following a scandal, in which Siderov, Stoyanov's stepfather, was said to be cheating on his mother with an Ataka MP, Denitsa Gadzeva (who herself was Stoyanov's high school girlfriend).

On Thursday, however, the three former Ataka MPs, currently independents, Valentin Nikolov, Dimitar Karbov, and Ognyan Tetimov, who had promised to join Stoyanov's new National Democratic Party, declared that they quit.

Karbov told journalists in Parliament Thursday that the new formation was "family-based".

"We don't accept the founding of a new political formation which is leader-based or family-based, what the new National Democratic Party headed by Dimitar Stoyanov seems to be," the three MPs said in a declaration.

"We are convinced that Bulgaria needs a real, modern, patriotic, and democratic formation that will put an end of extremism, xenophobia, confrontation, and vocal nationalist," they added, claiming to continue to search for the new meaning of Bulgarian nationalism.
