Five candidates have filed bids for the creation of a smart waste management system in Sofia.
The new information system is worth BGN 1 M and will keep track of waste treatment from the bin to the landfill and the potential future incineration.
The candidates are Atos IT Solutions and Services, state-owned company Informatsionno Obsluzhvane (Information Services), and three consortiums – ISUO (Infologica and Contrax) a consortium of Lirex BG and Index Bulgaria and Electronic Administrative Services for the State and the Local Administration, which brings together Bravo Investment and EIB Soft.
The smart system will collect, store and process primary data on waste from the point of generation to the point of disposal.
The database will keep track of the collection, separation, storage, transportation, recycling and disposal of household and construction waste.
The system will also monitor the winter and the summer street maintenance and will process the data concerning the cleaning, washing and sweeping of the streets so as to ensure daily oversight of the activities and to allow an optimization of the processes.
The waste management information system will be connected to the integrated information system of the Sofia municipality.
The waste management platform is to be completed within six months of the signing of the contract.
The contractor will be selected on the basis of the economically most profitable bid.
