Bulgarian President Radev Warns of Social Risks and 'Price Shock' from Eurozone Transition
President Rumen Radev once again declined to clearly express his support or opposition to the adoption of the euro in Bulgaria
Bulgaria is a good role model for progressing in Europe, according to the President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili.
Speaking in Tbilisi at a meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, the President said Bulgaria's EU membership and practice are giving his and other countries in the region courage that the enlargement of the Union will continue and Georgia will be able to join it.
"Bulgaria and Georgia have done a lot and now must use each other's advantages and expand partnership," said Saakashvili, cited by the Cabinet's press office.
The two have discussed energy projects, including transit of liquefied natural gas through the Black Sea.
Prior to meeting Saakashvili, Borisov held talks with his Georgian counterpart, Nikoloz Gilauri.
Earlier in the day Bulgaria and Georgia signed a protocol for amendments to the bi-lateral agreement for exchange of classified information and a partnership contract between the Sofia University and the Tbilisi State University.
Also on Sunday, Borisov laid a wreath at the memorial of the heroes who have perished for the unity and independence of Georgia. The sculpture, called the Tower of Heroes, is 48-meter tall and is placed in the central square of the Presidential Palace of Georgia. It is made up of 62 pieces of heart-shaped clear glass.
The PM met during the day with His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta and Tbilisi.
Borisov left on Sunday on an official visit to Tbilisi, Georgia, in the company of two ministers from the Cabinet - Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski and Labor Minister Totyu Mladenov.
After Georgia, the Bulgarian PM will head to Armenia. His visit to the Southern Caucasus states comes on the invitation of the Prime Ministers of Georgia and Armenia, Nikoloz Gilauri and Tigran Sargsyan.
