There is no territorial dispute between Sofia and Bucharest, Romanian Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu has stated.
Romania simply wants the Black Sea territory in question to be divided between the two countries under the international maritime legislation, Diaconescu has told Evenimentul Zilei, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph agency.
Last week, Diaconescu renewed discussions about the delimitation of the economic zone in the Black Sea between the two neighbors, in a section of 17 square kilometers that is suspected to be rich in oil and natural gas.
The alleged disputed territory on the Black Sea border between Bulgaria and Romania is also said to be located on the route of the future South Stream gas pipeline.
"In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs we do not deal with questions regarding energy, economy and others. We deal with international agreements and their application," Diaconescu has pointed out upon being asked whether the potential dispute has something to do with the South Stream and Nabucco projects.
