Volen Siderov, leader of the far-right Bulgarian Ataka party, has condemned the new political formation that is to be created on Sunday by former Ataka members.

The dissenters in question have been "bought" by the ruling centrist-right GERB, Siderov believes.

He stated that the new party is deliberately created by GERB in order to prevent Ataka from entering the next Parliament.

Siderov's estranged wife Kapka Siderova and his stepson, MEP Dimitar Stoyanov, are among the founders of the new party. The new political project has attracted five former Ataka MPs that currently count as "independent" - Borislav Stoyanov, Valentin Ivanov, Dimitar Karbov, Ognyan Tetimov and Petar Hlebarov.

Siderov has also announced that his formation is about to stage a demonstration in front of the Romanian embassy in Sofia on Sunday.

Thus, the party will declare its stance against what it perceives as territorial claims on behalf of Romania.

On Wednesday, Romania's Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu brought up the issue of a potentially disputed territory of 17 square kilometers on the Black Sea border between Bulgaria and Romania.

On Thursday, Romanian Ambassador to Bulgaria Anton Pacuretu declared that Romania has no territorial claims towards Bulgaria.
