Bulgarian Farmers to Receive BGN 300 Million Aid Amid Russia-Ukraine Crisis
In a bid to support its agricultural sector amidst the ongoing tensions stemming from Russia's war against Ukraine, Bulgaria announces a significant aid package for farmers
Qatar will invest in Bulgaria's production of chicken and lamb meat, as well as grains, Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naudenov revealed on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Naydenov met with representatives of Hassad Food, a Qatari developer in the agriculture and livestock sector.
"During the talks, the Qatari company expressed its willingness to acquire pasture-grounds, on which lambs could be bred, as well as lands for fodder production," Naydenov steted, as cited by BGNES.
The Agriculture Minister clarified that the priority of Qatar's agricultural investments in Bulgaria is to ensure and diversify its imports of fresh meat.
Earlier on Wednesday, Qatari investors snubbed the opening of the Qatari-Bulgarian business forum in Doha, as only Bulgarians could be seen in the showroom for the forum's launch by Economy and Energy Minister, Traicho Traikov. The forum is now set to open Wednesday evening.
Also earlier in the day, Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov met with the ruling Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Mladenov labeled the meeting "positive" and reported that the two main topics, in addition to the one about investments, had been partnership in the culture and education sectors.
