The Bulgarian Ambassador to Serbia, Georgi Dimitrov, had been recalled after a scandal with Bulgarian Deputy Defense Minister, Avgustina Tsvetkova.

Tsvetkova had travelled to Belgrade to take part in the official celebration for March 3 – Bulgaria's Liberation Day and National Holiday.

The Ambassador had arranged for her to meet with Serbian Defense Minister, Dragan Sutanovac. The Bulgarian diplomat was supposed to attend this meeting in the frame of the official program, but the Deputy Defense Minister told him she did not want his presence because he no longer represents Bulgaria.

Dimitrov described the incident on Facebook, writing it was a blunt violation of diplomatic protocol.

In response, the Foreign Affairs Ministry ordered him to leave Belgrade ASAP.

Dimitrov is a former Foreign Policy Secretary of former President, Georgi Parvanov, and one of the three Ambassadors, exposed as agents of the former Communist State Security, who won the case against Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov over their pre-term recall to Bulgaria.

The Ministry is appealing the rule.

Meanwhile, on the proposal of the cabinet, President, Rosen Plevneliev, signed the decree for the appointment of a new Bulgarian Ambassador to Serbia - Angel Dimitrov.
