A college student has been stabbed to death in Sofia's Studentski Grad (College Town) district overnight Wednesday.
Mario Danchev, 19, from the western city of Pernik, was murdered in a brawl in dormitory 19, where he lived with his twin brother Martin.
The twins went out late Tuesday evening on a tour of nearby bars. They returned to the dorm after hours of alcohol drinking and got into an altercation with another, yet unidentified, college student in the hallway in front of their room.
Mario and Martin started pounding on the door and their roommate opened it.
For unknown reasons a melee occurred while they were entering the room and Mario fell on the ground, with a knife in his back, the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR, reported, citing police information. He was pronounced dead at the scene upon the arrival of police.
Investigators are searching the dorm and interrogating witnesses. No one has admitted to the crime so far.
Sofia's College Town district is notorious for frequent fights, triggered by alcohol binging.
