Doctors from the ER of the Neurosurgery Ward of the Sofia emergency hospital "Pirogov" are fighting for the life of 38-year-old man, who had been injured by a fallen icicle.
The incident happened in the very heart of downtown Sofia, on "Maria Louisa" boulevard.
The man has a broken skull, contusion and bleeding in the brain. After he was listed in the hospital, an emergency team of neurosurgeons, led by Nikolay Gabrovski, had performed surgery on him, the press center of the hospital reports Tuesday.
"There is a real risk for the patient's life; he is now placed in a state of artificial coma. The next three days are critical for his survival, "said Professor Gabrovski.
The news comes amidst a staggering number of reports and complaints about piles of snow and thrash on the streets of the capital in the after math of heavy snowfall from the beginning of the month.
