The Bulgarian cabinet is firm on keeping the course of working together and discussing with the Parliament key issues for the EU.

The statement was made Friday in the Parliament by Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, who attended the regularly scheduled session of the so-call "Parliamentary Control," during which ministers in the cabinet answer questions from the Members of the Parliament.

Borisov presented a report for the progress of Bulgaria's priorities during the Polish Presidency of the European Union (July-December 2011), and the main ones now – during the Danish Presidency (January-June, 2012).

The PM pointed out that the period of the Polish presidency was marked by the biggest so far challenges before the EU, particularly the economic crisis that affected every citizen, family, business and community on the Old Continent.

"The crisis imposes the need of a check of the capability of political leaders in the EU to react adequately and in coordination to the situation and find a solution. But not all of them realize that stricter fiscal discipline rules to reinstate the Eurozone stability are a must," Borisov told the MPs.

He reiterated that Bulgaria supports the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union or the so-called EU Fiscal Pact, but would never agree on harmonizing taxes with the Eurozone, and would keep direct taxation a priority.

"On January 1, 2012, Denmark took over the EU Presidency. Challenges in the EU for this period remain significant," Borisov said.
