Sporting Lisbon's troubled Bulgarian striker Valery Bojinov is wanted by his home country's champions Litex Lovech, he has revealed.
Former Barcelona striker Hristo Stoichkov who was recently appointed as Litex head coach was among the first to offer consolation to Bojinov after he controversially shoved a team mate aside and missed a vital penalty last week.
During their phone conversation, Stoichkov asked the Bulgarian international to consider the option of joining Litex, Bojinov has told the local Trud daily.
Stoichkov wants to snap up Bojinov in a deal that would last until the end of May and has discussed the matter with Sporting officials.
"I cannot say anything now, my agent Gerry Palomba will hold talks about it in the beginning of this week," Bojinov has added. He further hinted that he may end up returning to Italy where he spent most of his professional career.
Rumors have it that another Bulgarian club, Levski Sofia, may also vie to attract the forward if he decides that he can no longer stay in Lisbon, given the situation.
Despite the great expectations at the start of his stint in Lisbon, Valeri Bojinov was recently voted among the biggest transfer disappointments in Portugal for 2011. The Bulgarian international signed a five-year contract with Sporting after the Portuguese club and Parma agreed on a EUR 2.6 M bid for 80% of the player's economic rights.
