Bulgaria's Vice President Angel Marin is joining the ranks of bearers of the Stara Planina – First Degree order, Bulgaria's highest state medal.

Reservist officer Gen.Maj. Angel Marin is to be bestowed the state order by President Georgi Parvanov on Tuesday, January 10, just ten days before the end of Parvanov's second and last term.

Vice President Marin might be one of the few Bulgarian public figures that had not received the Stara Planina order, as, by popular opinion, Parvanov has been too generous in bestowing the highest medal during the past ten years.

According to the Bulgarian Presidency, Angel Marin is getting the Stara Planina order for his "extremely big contributions" to the Republic of Bulgaria.
