Euroroma leader Tsvetelin Kanchev, who was recently told that his name featured on a contract killing hit list, has demanded urgent meeting with prosecution authorities.

On Wednesday, Bulgarian police arrested three Roma kingpins on suspicions of preparing the murder of Oleg Yanev, prosecutor at the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office, Hristo Varnanov, Chair of the Supreme Roma Court, and Tsvetelin Kanchev.

The arrested suspects were Lyubomir Iliev-Kadraviq and the brothers Georgi Goranov and Vasil Granov.

Upon learning that he had been the target for killing by Lyubomir Iliev, the leader of the Euroroma party said that he had been his guest on January 02 in Kostinbrod, with the two discussing chances of Kanchev's niece marrying Iliev's nephew.

"I was shocked by what I was told. If there was a chance, I would back a law banning certain people from watching films about the Russian mafia and about secret services. I never thought arrogance and megalomania could reach such levels," Kanchev said after spending over an hour at the prosecutor's office, the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) reported.

On Thursday, the three suspects were officially charged with an assassination plot against Varbanov, Kanchev and Yanev.

Roma clan leader Kiril Rashkov, aka Tsar Kiro, was found to have been their accomplice in the preparations for the killings in the period June-September 2011.

Rashkov has not yet been officially charged because he is currently the subject of another trial which is to shed light on his involvement in the September 23 death of 19-year old Angel Petrov in the southern Bulgarian village of Katunitsa.

"I have always said that Tsar Kiro is a self-proclaimed tsar. I have repeatedly invited him to leave Katunitsa, where normal Bulgarians and Roma live together normally," the leader of the Euroroma party commented.

Kantchev voiced worries that a major figure in the assassination plot had been left out.

He further said that he still feared for his life and he was still permanently accompanied by security guards.

"As regards the political plan, I am obviously a serious obstacle. I think I am obstructing the planned siphoning of billions in EU funds. Somebody must have grown very angry at my words that the money ought to not only go to the Roma population, but to all citizens living below the social minimum," Kanchev added.
