Bulgaria's President-elect, Rosen Plevneliev, announced his top ten priorities for the strategic development of Bulgaria during his term in office.

Plevneliev took part Tuesday in the sixth meeting between the cabinet and the business, organized by the Bulgarian "Capital" weekly in partnership with the Confederation of Employers and Industrials in Bulgaria (KRIB).

The new President vowed to launch consultations on reaching national unity since his very first day in office, stressing investors can easily differentiate between stable countries with a plan and the ones that spend easily and speedily.

"There is no doubt Bulgaria is a stable country; now we must prepare a long-term program," he said.

As a number one priority, Plevneliev noted safety and security of citizens, followed by results and justice. He promised to work on establishing in the country a fair judicial system.

The President-elect pointed out the State must help the industrial sector as the moving force behind economic growth.

"Bulgarian economy demonstrated that it is flexible and redirected itself from economy of loans to economy for export. Now we must have reforms – if we are to introduce top-of-the-line technologies, we must prepare our human resources for that. We must think about industries of the future now and the cabinet must support them now with concrete measures," Plevneliev stressed.

He promised also to work for the improvement of business climate and institutions, including the so-called electronic government, explaining that not all rich countries have natural resources, but all have working institutions.

The President-elect noted as other priorities the infrastructure of modern Bulgaria, energy efficiency, liberalization, development of regions, education, innovations, cultural and spiritual advancement of the nation.

"We are proud that we are now building 13 museums," he said, and joked that his top ten priorities were like "God's ten commandments."

Plevneliev further vowed to work for the good image of the country.
