Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has signed together with the other EU 27 leaders the treaty for Croatia's accession to the European Union.

Bulgaria has traditionally expressed eager support for the EU integration of Croatia, the second Western Balkans / former Yugoslavia nation after Slovenia to become part of the united European bloc of states.

Croatia, which is supposed to join on July 1, 2013, after treaty is ratified by all 27 member states and by Croatia itself in a referendum, will be the first state joining the Union since Bulgaria and Romania's accession in 2007.
