Bulgaria: Bulgarian Left-Wingers Make Use of Protests, Demand Minister Resignations BSP leader and former PM Sergey Stanishev. BGNES

Bulgaria's oppositional Bulgarian Socialist Party has officially demanded the resignations of Finance Minister Simeon Djankov and Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naydenov as a result of the ongoing protests in the country.

"The Ministers responsible for sectors in which tension has been created should resign," BSP leader and former PM Sergey Stanishev has declared, as cited by dnevnik.bg.

Stanishev, who was recently elected interim president of the Party of European Socialists, believes that Naydenov and his Ministry are responsible for the protests of agriculture producers, as well as for the illegal cartel agreements and monopolies in Bulgaria's food production.

As far as Finance Minister Simeon Djankov is concerned, he has to go because of his initial intention to sudden increase the country's retirement age with one whole year, Stanishev reckons.

The whole governing body of the Bulgarian State Railroads (BDZ) also has to resign, the former Prime Minister has stated, explaining that it is deliberately trying to lead the company to bankruptcy so that it could be privatized cheaply afterwards.
