Syrian Opposition Forces Make Gains in Homs, Threatening Regime's Control
Rebels, led by the Islamist faction Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), have made significant advances toward the city of Homs in central Syria
Late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi's most powerful son, Saif Al-Islam, was disguised as a camel herder as he tried to sneak over the border to Niger.
"My name is Abdul Salem, a camel keeper," Saif al-Islam said when he was cornered on Saturday, according to army commander Ahmed Amur who participated in the much anticipated capture operation.
In a bizarre attempt to hide his identity, Saif al-Islam rubbed sand on his face and head.
"He wanted to disguise himself," Amur stated, as cited by The Sun.
"Then he said to us, 'Shoot.' When the rebels refused to shoot, and identified themselves, Saif told them: 'OK, shoot me, or take me to Zintan.' "We don't kill or harm a captured man, we are Islam," the army commander explained.
Saif al-Islam, the last key Gaddafi family member to be seized or killed, is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of crimes against humanity. However, Libyan authorities have declared that they have no intention to hand Gaddafi to the Court and that he is going to be tried in Libya.
