Sebastian Vettel, who has already won his Formula 1 world cup for the season, equaled Nigel Mansell's 1992 record, by getting 14 pole positions for the season.

Vettel was good in the warm ups, but then was brilliant in the qualification for the Abu Dhabi race in the Yas Marina Circuit, scheduled for Sunday.

If the Red Bull driver wins the Abu Dhabi race, which is the penultimate for the season, he will be able to try and equal Michael Schumacher's record of 13 wins for a season.

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, who also did a good showing at the qualification, will start out second at the race.

2 rounds before the end, Vettel has a sure win for the season with 374 points, against the 240 points of second Jason Button.

Red Bull-Renault is also first with 595 points, ahead of second McLaren-Mercedes with 442 pts.
