By 5 pm Sunday, 42% of Bulgarian voters had cast a ballot in the presidential and 46% in the local elections runoff.

The data was announced by the spokesperson of the country's Central Electoral Commission, Ralitsa Negentsova.

Voters in smaller municipalities have been the most active where the turnout at 5 pm has reached 60%-70%, while in the largest ones it stood at 20%-30%.

Election Day is not going to be extended as it was during the first round on October 23 when people crowded voting polls in the evening. In comparison, no long lines have been reported Sunday.

Minutes before closing of the polls, the MBMD polling agency reported the voter activity as higher than 50%, which is almost unprecedented in Bugaria.
