Zdravko Georgiev, one of the Bulgarian medics formerly jailed in Libya over the notorious Libyan HIV Trial, has said that God's justice has been served on Muammar Gaddafi.

Commenting on the reported death of the Libyan strongman, the doctor said that Gaddafi would have been arrested sooner or later.

Despite the years of tortures at the Libyan jail, the Bulgarian medics do not see his death as retribution.

"Why should I be satisfied? No one will give me back the years spent in prison or undo the the tortures sustained," Georgiev said.

The Bulgarian medic told journalists that the time spent in the Libyan jail is past which no longer exists.

He also added that he expects a turn for the better, even if minimal, to take place in the country.

Georgiev, together with five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor were arrested in 1999 and were accused of deliberately infecting more than 400 children with HIV in a Libyan hospital in Benghazi.

They were sentenced to death twice.

In July 2007, the involvement of the French Sarkozy Presidential couple in the final stages of the talks, which has been deemed crucial by Bulgaria and the medics, led to their release after spending a total of 2755 days in a Libyan prison.
