The Bulgarian subsidiary of Swiss-based engineering manufacturer ABB Group has set up its fifth annual technical seminar in the city of Plovdiv.

The event starting October 19, which has already become a tradition among ABB's collaborators, is focusing on ABB's most recent innovations concerning the low and medium voltage equipment as well as motors and drives, the company announced Wednesday.

The topics to be presented by ABB experts from Bulgaria, Italy and Germany will include: Protection and Control of LV motors; New products and solutions for the medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) supply systems; Products and Solutions for photovoltaic plants; MV Protection relays Relion and their applications in MV switchgears; Software and supporting tools for designers. Beside the theoretical part, the event also brings live samples and demonstrations of the presented equipment to the customers' attention.

The seminar will be attended by around 150 participants – ABB customers from important local companies such as KCM, Amylum, Lukoil Neftochim, TPP Maritza East 2, "AES", Maritza East 1 etc, by official ABB distributors, by representatives of Power Plants in the country, as well as by ABB experts from Bulgaria, Italy and Germany.

ABB operates in Bulgaria through three companies in five locations, employing a total number of over 1000 employees. The three ABB production units in the country are located in Petrich, Sevlievo and Rakovski. They produce products and components, acting either as key suppliers to other ABB factories within the ABB Group, or delivering ABB products to end customers.

ABB Bulgaria hired its 1000th employee in July 2011. ABB in Bulgaria has been recognized as the "Investor of the year" in 2009 by the InvestBulgaria Agency and winner of the "2010 Award" offered by the Bulgarian-German Chamber of Commerce, as an acknowledgement for the ABB factory in Rakovski which employed 300 people during 2010.

Last year ABB opened a Turbochargers Service Station in Varna, operating a workshop equipped with up-to-date tools and technology, which serves customers such as ship owners, shipping companies, power plant operators and owners within a 7 days/24 hours schedule.

The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 124,000 people.
