EU Parliament to Debate Bulgaria’s Rule of Law After Varna Mayor’s Arrest
The European Parliament is set to hold a debate in Strasbourg next week focusing on the state of the rule of law in Bulgaria

President of the European Commission Jos? Manuel Barroso and European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek are to arrive in Sofia Thursday to attend an open session of the Political Bureau of the European People's Party (EPP).
The meeting scheduled for 13-14 October will also be attended by the EU Commissioners on International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva, on Financial Programming and Budget, Janusz Lewandowski, and on Regional Policy, Johannes Hahn.
Other Bulgarian participants in the discussion titled "More and better Europe is the answer towards a sustainable and inclusive growth" include Rosen Plevneliev, presidential candidate of center-right ruling party GERB, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Deputy Prime Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov.
The hosts of the conference are Joseph Daul MEP, Chairman of the EPP Group, and Andrey Kovatchev MEP, Head of the Bulgarian Delegation(GERB) of the EPP Group.
The meeting will feature discussions with MEPs on the future of EU cohesion policy and challenges for the EU in the changing world.
A tete-a-tete meeting between Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and EC President Jose Barroso has been slated to take place before the EPP Group Bureau Meeting.
Bulgarian Parliament Chair Tsetska Tsacheva has said that Finance Minister Simeon Djankov and Regional Development Minister Lilyana Pavlova will also take part in the event.
