The U.S. State Department says that Mustafa Abdul Jalil, the leader of Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC), is a reformer.

I am asking:

How may a man who repeatedly sentenced to death innocent Bulgarian nurses and Palestinian doctor be a reformer and a democrat?

How may a man who prolonged the agony and sufferings of falsely accused health workers in Gaddafi's prison now open the doors of the same prisons, positioning himself as a liberator of oppressed people?

How does the man who was loyal to Gaddafi and ignored tortures of foreign medical workers dare talk about Gaddafi's brutality?

French president Sarkozy greets Mr. Jalil In Paris, telling him: "We will help you."

I am asking:

Has Sarkozy forgotten that he negotiated with Gaddafi's clan in 2007 asking to free the captured nurses and doctor?

Did he forget that his then-wife, Cecilia Sarkozy, was personally included in the "mercy mission" to save the medical workers in Libya?

Did he delete from his memory that the French First Lady personally traveled to Libya as an EU and French humanitarian representative to "pick up" the health workers from Libyan hell?

Yes, I know. He has new life and new, younger wife, but some things cannot be neglected by selectively deleting them from memory.

The French President still looks to be a key player. Too serious to be proclaimed sclerotic, it seems that the Libyan oil slick in his political gulf has blurred his memories, transforming him into a blind-minded president with a new political doctrine and new political friends with a very bad past.

He is impressed with the new Libyan leader to the extent that he ignores the report of the International Center for Research and Study on Terrorism and Aid to Victims of Terrorism (CIRET-AVT) and the French Center for Research on Intelligence (CF2R) warning that "only a minority of Libyan NTC members are true democrats." The rest of them are mixed factions of "monarchists, Islamic extremists and former fixtures of the Qaddafi supporters who defected to the rebels for various reasons."

Sarkozy also ignores the Bulgarian Prime Minister, who warned that some of the "new Libyan democrats" participated in the brutal torture of Bulgarian nurses

The chief commander of the rebel forces, Abdel Fattah Younes (killed on July 28), has been infamously called the "chief torturer" among Bulgarians. His men abused nurses by various methods -- rape, electric shocks and dog bites -- forcing them to confess to crimes that they had been accused of.

"I wish the French knew who they support in Libya," says university professor Vladimir Chukov, one of the best Bulgarian experts on the Arab world, mentioning the name of the NTC "military co-ordinator" Idris Laga, known in Bulgaria as the president of the Association of Relatives of Children Infected with AIDS.

"Officially independent, this organization was created by the regime to raise the stakes by exploiting the pain of the victims," he said.

It is obvious: the West needs cruel men to build a new Libya. No doubt they found the right and experienced people headed by "Judge Jalil." He is more than ideal for new political justice of the West. He works according to the orders from the "top." He does not care for the evidence.

He even rejected the scientific findings of internationally recognized medical experts. According to the report , HIV infection was present in the hospital even before the nurses arrived and that the children had already been infected by the time they did.

It is not the first time that the West has made a deal with a dictator's political servants, allowing oil to wash their sins and crimes away in the name of Western interests.

Libyan oil will heal the old political wounds. But who will heal the wounds in the soul of the Bulgarian nurses and the Palestinian doctor?

Who will heal the souls of 426 HIV-infected children and their families, leaving them without a final answer to the question: who really infected them?
