Thousands of Bulgarians Celebrate Friendship with Russia

Over 10,000 gathered Saturday at the Koprinka Dam near central Bulgarian of Kazanlak on the 8th yearly gathering of friends of Russia in Bulgaria.

A number of high-profile guests, including Russian ambassador Yuriy Isakov and former Bulgarian PM and leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Sergey Stanishev honored the event.

Another guest of the event was socialist candidate for president at the October elections, PES MEP Ivailo Kalfin.

Festivities included professional and amateur folklore groups from Bulgaria and Russia, as well as traditional foods.

Many of the visitors were Bulgarians who have studied or worked in Russia at some point in their lives.
