UK and German papers have come out Sunday reporting that special forces and secret services in the two countries have led extensive mutual work with the Gaddafi regime in Libya in the past.
The Sunday Times writes that the UK had invited in 2006 two of the sons of ousted Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to SAS demonstrations.
UK Department of Defense commented that the visit, set to include a meeting with then UK chief of staff Gen. Mike Jackson, did not take place.
The Times also writes that as an acting PM, Tony Blair has attempted to forge strong ties with the Gaddafi regime, and has actively aided in Saif al-Islam Gaddafi's doctoral work at the London School of Economics.
In a separate publication, German Bild am Sonntag writes that German secret services had strong ties with their Libyan counterparts, exchanging massive amounts of information.
According to a former top German security civil servant, the information was of vital interest for Germany's security, and led to the prevention of terrorist threats for the country.
According to the Bild sources, German secret services contacted Libyan reconnaissance only for information that the Germans did not have access to, and had never crossed the line in asking for a more substantial rapprochement between the two countries.
Saturday other reports cited documents uncovered in Libyan capital Tripoli showing that Gaddafi regime secret services had conducted extensive common work with American CIA and British MI-6.
