A French national, who have been injured from a fall in Bulgaria's Pirin Mountain, has been successfully transported to a hospital in the capital Sofia.

The man, 52, has suffered a broken pelvis, the Bulgarian Mountain Rescue Service informs. The incident happened at an altitude of 2 300 meters, in the vicinity of Glavnishko lake.

The French tourist was in the Pirin Mountain with Bulgarian friends. He had been taken in an ambulance from the area to the Military Medical Academy in Sofia around 8:30 pm Thursday.

A medical chopper has been used in the rescue operation with the team including the chopper's crew, and three people from the Mountain Rescue Services, one of them a doctor.

The man is in stable condition.
