The official internet page of Bulgaria's Ministry of Social Policy and Labor has suffered a hacker attack Sunday.
A screen appeared underneath the site's web address filled with expletives in a long message in English. The hacker further announced he belonged to the hacker group (I-H), sent greetings to colleagues and appealed to Romanians to "wake up."
It remains unclear if the attack was pursuing a particular goal or if it was just bragging about the perpetrator's abilities to hack an official government site. According to the message, the attack happened around 5 am Sunday.
The message was removed mid-day, but the site remained inaccessible for a while. It is now up and running.
"I have called the police and am expecting their report," Social Minister, Totyu Mladenov, is quoted saying.
Yavor Kolev, Head of the Cyber Crime Unit at the Main Directorate for Combatting Organized Crime (GDBOP), has declined any comments, only saying this was not the first case of a hacker attack on an official Ministry site and the authorities were working on the case.
