The Bulgarian police have arrested early Friday morning, in special operation codenamed "The Blessed," the wanted criminal Tihomir Tilev.

The information was reported in person by Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, who said Tilev, with an active verdict for illegal drug trafficking, was detained in the village of Dobrich, near the town of Dimitrovgrad in southern Bulgaria.

On July 1, 2004, Tilev had been busted on the Bulgarian-Serbian border with nearly 27 kilos of heroin. He was first held behind bars, but released on house arrest in 2005 by the Sofia Appellate Court.

In 2009, Tilev was sentenced by the Haskovo Regional Court to 10 years of jail time and a fine of BGN 100 000. The rule was confirmed by the higher instance - the Plovdiv Appellate Court in November 2009.

At the end of the same year Tilev disappeared, according to Tsvetanov.

"We named the operation "The Blessed" because it is very hard to explain the house arrest measure for a crime as serious as trafficking 27 kilos of heroin," the Interior Minister said, hinting once again the Court is the one letting criminals go.
