The Bulgarian idea of high-speed Internet access being introduced as a EU fundamental right is very likely to be materialized within a couple of months, according to online media expert Justine Toms.

"Europe is in a desperate need of something like that. Bulgaria is a paradise as far as Internet access is concerned, since it is far cheaper in this region and still has high quality," Toms pointed out in an interview for the Bulgarian Darik radio.

However, she advised against online banking via free Internet, saying one should be cautious and use it mainly for checking out news and reference articles.

In a letter letter submitted to the European Commission, Dr. Solomon Passy, President of the Atlantic Club in Bulgaria, and his wife, Gergana Passy, President of Pan-Europa Bulgaria, suggested that access to high-speed Internet should become the 5th EU freedom and a fundamental right on the bloc's territory.

Access to high-speed Internet should be the 5th EU freedom and a fundamental right on EU territory, according to a letter submitted to the European Commission by Dr. Solomon Passy, President of the Atlantic Club in Bulgaria, and Gergana Passy, President of Pan-Europa Bulgaria.

The new intiative of the Passy family, who in 2008 came up with the idea for common mobile phone charges, a contribution recognized by the EC, promotes Internet access as a Fifth EU freedom, in addition to the four freedoms of movement – of people, capitals, goods, and services.

Justine Toms has been engaged in online media and online marketing since the late 90's, writing articles and books on the subject
