Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov has started a two-day official visit to Slovenia at the invitation of his Slovenian counterpart, Danilo Turk.

The heads of state of the two countries will discuss possibilities for expanding trade and economic cooperation, as well as boosting mutual investment . The talks will also focus on issues like EU enlargement and energy policy.

Parvanov and Turk will exchange information and opinions on international and regional topics, as well as on initiatives of common interest.

The Slovenian President and his wife will give an official dinner in honor of the Bulgarian head of state and his wife, Zorka Parvanova.
On the second day of the visit, the two presidents will open a Slovenian-Bulgarian business forum.

President Parvanov will also meet Slovenian Parliament Speaker Pavel Gantar and Prime Minister Borut Pahor.

The Bulgarian President and his wife will also attend a meeting with Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Jankovi?.

The presidential delegation includes Ekaterina Mihaylova, Chairperson of the Bulgaria-Slovenia parliamentary friendship group, MP Vladimir Toshev, Dimitar Tsanchev and Delyan Dobrev- Deputy Ministers of Interior and of Economy, Energy and Tourism, secretaries of the president, etc.

A business delegation will also accompany the Bulgarian President during his June 06-07 visit.

In May 2009, Slovenian President Danilo Turk paid an official visit to Bulgaria.

The visit featured discussions on projects aimed at ensuring EU's energy security, like the South Stream and Nabucco gas pipelines, gas grid interconnections between countries in the region, etc.

In the course of the 2009 talks, President Parvanov emphasized the high potential for advancing economic relations between the two countries in spite of the crisis.
