Saif Al-Adel, the new leader of Al Qaeda, has threatened to launch attacks on London as a revenge for Osama bin Laden's death in a US Special Forces raid in his Abbottabad compound in Pakistan.

Terrorist cells have reportedly already been dispatched there and are waiting for orders to attack, according to The Sun.

"Our new leader has asked for a big plan for London. He believes the UK is the backbone of Europe and must be crushed. This will be followed by attacks in other western countries. London was picked out because we have a big representation in the UK," Taliban spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Saif Al-Adel is a former Egyptian special forces soldier. The 59-year-old fought the Russian forces in Afghanistan in 1980s.
