A nationwide search warrant has been issued for a young Bulgarian woman, who has abandoned her daughter on a city street and has left the country.

Residents of the Bulgarian second largest city of Plovdiv found a little girl wandering around on "Krayna" street late Friday evening and called the police.

The girl was able to explain she came to Plovdiv with her mother and one of her girlfriends in a car from the town of Kazanlak. The mother told her to get out of the car and to wait for her and sped away.

The child is placed in the Plovdiv orphanage "Mother Teresa."

The police found out that the woman, 24, from the village of Koprinka, had crossed the Turkish border around 1 am the same night.

The investigation continues.
